The entrepreneurial training is one of the core objectives of BaSIC. WP3 is aimed at identifying, selecting and training entrepreneurs for internationalisation and preparing investment in other markets. Starting with attendance and coaching SME in their local parks and/or clusters, fat grow SME will be identified and selected for training. It is one of the most important sources for getting the BaSIC clients, identifying fast-growth SME with internationalisation opportunities in the regions – mostly out of Science parks and Incubators, out of selected clusters (Optics/Microsystems; IT/Media; BioTech/Life Sciences). After training, the selected entrepreneurs will be
offered to use certified internationalisation tools (Market Access Points - MAP or docking stations) and will be brought in contact with finance aid (mainly via JOSEFIN).
WP3 develops training modules for SME intrnationalisation, jointly with input from regions about specific particularities; and regional specification, legislation, tax, market access regulations., funding, financing etc. WP3 qualifies and certifies trainers.
WP3 is one of the core packages of BaSIC. It will be carried out under the leadership of Kista Science City in collaboration with Stockholm University Innovation. The Swedish partner, Kista Science City, and its sister company Stockholm Innovation & Growth have a longstanding and broad experience in entrepreneurial training of SME, which was already an important contribution during the BaltMet Inno project, but also in other transnational programs in which Kista Science City has participated over the years (e.g. Paxis, Arise, Ricarda). In order to develop entrepreneurship training (programmes, formats, organizations), the process will start with the exchange of best experiences and practices between the partner cities. Based on these findings, a training programme for trainers will be developed. The Stockholm partner will prepare a manual on internationalization for trainers of SME.
This manual is based on the regional input on regulations, legislation, taxes, regional barriers, support programmes, allowances, and other particular regional conditions for foreign companies to access the local markets. This collection of material will be executed at the beginning of WP3. Based on the regional input from partners (parks, incubators, cities) two training sessions will be organized. In parallel with the training of trainers, the qualification of SME starts at the local level, in the science parks and incubators and clusters of partner regions. Science park/incubator managers will continuously identify, select, and appoint innovative SME for internationalization (selection of SME cases). This selection of fast growing SME will significantly add to the collection of innovative SME to be selected for entrepreneurial training. The WP
expects about 3 innovative fast growing SME to be selected annually in each region and proposed for entrepreneurial training.
Furthermore, one annual international entrepreneurship training course (3 total) is planned, qualifying the SME selected at the local level - min. 30 SME trained and coached. 10 of the coached SME wll be linked to finance services of JOSEFIN project. The trainers group will then use the prepared manual with input from the local parks. The group will be supported by local trainers (one each per region). Successfully trained SME will be major clients for the use of the MAPs (WP6) and for handing over to finance instruments (Josefin). On the other hand, feedback and requirement from SME about necessary innovation infrastructure will be collected and transmitted to WP5 (innovation infrastructure) as basic information for preparing partnerships between developed and developing parks.
In WP3, external experts will be consulted to secure excellence in the training components. This will be both in-house experts from Stockholm Innovation & Growth (STING), the sister company of KSC, and SU Holding, but also experienced trainers and serial entrepreneurs from the STING and Electrum networks as well as from SU Holding and the SU networks. STING and SU Holding will also be used as in-house experts for the selection of SME cases, identification of regional events, the development of the training manual and other project tasks. The workpackage will help updating SME business plans for the chapter "entering international markets" (30 companies served with the amendment) - qualification of business plans will be proposed
